Scott Frank's adaptation of Elmore Leonard's classic crime novel, an arbitrary set of circumstances and not-so-arbitrary bad career moves on behalf of Soderbergh led to the creation of one of the great 90's films and one of the best adaptations of Leonard's work ever put on screen.
